Care Instructions
Caring for your garments properly helps them last longer and age beautifully. IKIGAI pieces are designed with longevity in mind, and thoughtful care is an essential part of that process.
Because many garments are made from surplus or second-hand fabrics, care instructions may vary slightly between pieces. Specific care guidance is provided on the product page when relevant.
General care guidelines
-
When materials and circumstances allow (for example with wool), airing a garment can help reduce the frequency of washing. Airing does not replace washing, but can help refresh garments between wears.
-
Prefer gentle washing cycles and lower temperatures.
-
Use mild detergents and avoid bleach.
-
Avoid tumble drying unless the label explicitly allows it.
-
Iron on the appropriate setting for the fabric, preferably while slightly damp.
Natural fabrics
IKIGAI prioritises natural fibres whenever possible. These materials benefit from gentler handling and tend to improve with wear and proper care.
Linen
-
Wash at 40°C on a gentle cycle

Mixed or unknown fibre compositions
Due to the nature of surplus and second-hand fabrics, exact fibre composition is not always known.
In these cases, materials are tested and assessed to determine whether fibres are natural or synthetic, and care recommendations are provided based on the results of these tests.
When composition is known, it is always stated on the product information.
In cases where the exact fibre composition is unknown, using a mixed‑fabric or delicate setting on the washing machine can be a safe option.
Repairs and maintenance
Minor repairs, such as loose seams or buttons, should be addressed early to extend the life of the garment.
If you have questions about caring for a specific piece, or are unsure how to wash or store it, you are always welcome to get in touch.
Caring for your clothes is a small but meaningful step towards more responsible consumption.
